Lenovo ThinkStation P3 Tower Gen 2 Intel Core Ultra 9 285K 96 GB DDR5-SDRAM 1 TB SSD NVIDIA RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell Windows 11 Pro Workstation nero

The Lenovo ThinkStation P3 Tower Gen 2 is a black workstation designed for professional desktop computing. It is built around an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K processor with up to 5.7 GHz boost frequency, paired with 96 GB of DDR5‑5600 memory and a 1 TB solid‑state drive. Graphics are provided by both integrated Intel graphics and a discrete NVIDIA RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell with 32 GB video memory. The system runs Windows 11 Pro and uses a 750 W power supply in a tower chassis with an integrated card reader.

Advantages

This workstation combines a high‑performance multi‑core CPU, a large amount of fast DDR5 memory and a capacious NVMe SSD to support demanding professional workloads. The inclusion of an NVIDIA RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell with 32 GB of dedicated video memory provides reliable performance for GPU‑accelerated applications, while the discrete and integrated graphics options allow flexible display and compute configurations. The tower form factor and 750 W power supply support expandability and sustained performance under load.

Suitable for

• 3D modelling and rendering workflows
• CAD, CAM and engineering applications
• Video editing and colour grading at high resolutions
• Scientific computing and data analysis that use GPU acceleration
• Software development and virtualisation with large memory requirements

When it may not be suitable

This workstation is a high‑end desktop intended for professional use; it may be more powerful and more expensive than required for basic office tasks, web browsing or light multimedia. If portability is essential, a desktop tower will not be convenient compared with mobile workstations or laptops.

How to use

Place the tower on a stable, well‑ventilated surface with enough clearance for airflow. Connect the display(s), keyboard, mouse and network cable as required, then plug in the power cord to the 750 W supply. Power on the system and complete any initial Windows 11 Pro setup and driver updates. For GPU‑accelerated tasks, install or update workstation‑grade drivers from the GPU vendor and configure application settings to use the discrete NVIDIA card when appropriate. Use available expansion bays and slots for additional storage or peripherals if needed.

What to consider before purchase

• Verify that the 96 GB DDR5 memory and 1 TB SSD meet your capacity and performance needs, and whether future upgrades are required.
• Confirm compatibility of professional software with the NVIDIA RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell and Windows 11 Pro.
• Consider the physical size and weight of a tower chassis and ensure adequate desk or rack space and ventilation.
• Check required external ports and display outputs for your monitors and peripherals.

Recommendations

For sustained heavy workloads, ensure the workstation is placed in a cool environment and keep drivers and system firmware up to date. Configure applications to use the discrete NVIDIA RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell for rendering and GPU compute tasks to take full advantage of the 32 GB video memory.
