The Faber-Castell Pitt Graphite set, 7 pieces (MPN 112997), contains a selection of graphite pencils and crayons in black, green and grey tones designed for sketching, shading and graphic work. The Pitt Graphite range offers 16 grades of hardness overall; this 7-piece set provides a compact selection of leads suitable for contrast, shading large areas and detailed line work. The pencils and crayons deliver predictable tonal transitions depending on pressure and hardness, making them suitable for artists, students and designers working on study sketches or finished drawings.

Advantages

The set combines pure graphite leads and graphite crayons for both fine detail and economical coverage of large surfaces. The materials produce a wide range of grey tones from delicate light grey to deep graphite black. Different hardness grades enable variable expression through pressure control, and the trusted Faber-Castell build ensures consistent performance and durability.

How to use

Select a pencil or crayon according to the desired hardness and tonal value. Use lighter pressure for subtle grey tones and softer pressure combined with softer grades for midtones; apply firmer pressure or a softer grade for deep blacks. Use graphite crayons for covering large areas quickly and pencils for precise lines and details. Blend with a stump or tissue if smoother transitions are required and sharpen pencils as needed with an appropriate sharpener.

Recommendations

Store the set capped or in a pencil case to protect leads and prevent breakage. Test grades on scrap paper to determine pressure and blending behaviour before working on a final piece.
