Cavo ottico attivo SFP+ CBO Viavi SFP-AOC-10G-2M 10G 2M

SFP+ Active Optical Cable CBO Viavi SFP-AOC-10G-2M 10G 2M is a factory-terminated optical link designed for direct connection between SFP+ ports. The cable provides 10 Gigabit per second data transfer over a 2 metre active optical assembly, combining a lightweight fibre construction with integrated transceivers to deliver short-range, high-bandwidth interconnects for data centre equipment, switches, servers and storage systems. The design reduces electromagnetic interference and removes the need for separate transceiver modules, simplifying cabling and improving airflow compared with equivalent copper solutions.

Advantages

This SFP+ active optical cable offers low latency and stable 10 Gbps throughput over a 2 m distance, with reduced weight and bulk compared to copper twinax. Being an active optical assembly, it supports longer short-reach connections with lower signal attenuation and immunity to electromagnetic interference. The pre-terminated, hot-pluggable SFP+ ends simplify installation and reduce configuration time, while the integrated optical components eliminate separate transceiver handling and compatibility concerns when used with compatible SFP+ ports.

Suitable for

• Short-range 10 Gbps links between network switches
• Server-to-switch and storage-to-switch interconnects in data centres
• High-density rack environments where reduced cable bulk and improved airflow are required
• Environments sensitive to electromagnetic interference

Key specifications

• Data rate: 10 Gigabit per second
• Length: 2 metres
• Connector type: SFP+ active optical assembly (factory-terminated)
• Medium: optical fibre with integrated active transceiver electronics
• Typical use: short-range interconnects for networking and storage equipment

How to use

Install the SFP+ Active Optical Cable by inserting each SFP+ end into the corresponding SFP+ ports on network devices until the latch clicks. Ensure both devices support SFP+ optical AOC modules and are powered down or follow hot-swap procedures recommended by the equipment vendor. After connection, verify link status through device management interfaces and monitor for correct 10 Gbps negotiation. Route the cable to avoid excessive bending and secure it to maintain proper airflow in rack installations.

Recommendations

Handle the cable by the connector housings; avoid pulling on the fibre jacket. Maintain the manufacturer’s minimum bend radius and protect connector end-faces from dust—use dust caps when ports are unused. Verify compatibility with your switch or server by checking supported SFP+ AOC types in the equipment documentation before deployment.
