The CHERRY G80-3000N RGB TKL is a modern reinterpretation of a classic 1980s keyboard, retaining the familiar keycap shape and typing feel while adding a slimmer case, RGB lighting and updated electronics. This wired mechanical keyboard uses CHERRY MX Gold Crosspoint switches made in Germany, rated for at least 50 million actuations, and features a QWERTZ layout with 109 keys and a 1.8 m USB cable.

Advantages

CHERRY MX Gold Crosspoint switches provide consistent, precise actuation and a durable service life. The keyboard supports anti-ghosting and full N-key rollover for reliable simultaneous keypress detection. Laser-etched key legends resist abrasion, and customizable RGB backlighting offers over 16 million colour options, including animated effects and single-key illumination. The compact, slimmer case reduces desk footprint while preserving the classic key profile.

Suitable for

  • Gaming requiring precise input and simultaneous keypresses
  • Typing-intensive work such as programming or data entry
  • Office use where durability and a compact form factor are desired
  • Industrial or professional environments needing reliable mechanical switches

Key specifications

  • Model: CHERRY G80-3000N RGB TKL (MPN G80-3838LWBDE-2, EAN 4025112095504)
  • Switch type: CHERRY MX Gold Crosspoint (made in Germany), ≥50 million actuations
  • Layout: QWERTZ, 109 keys (German)
  • Interface: USB, wired with 1.8 m cable
  • Backlighting: Customizable RGB (over 16 million colours, animated and single-key options)
  • Colour: Black

How to use

Connect the keyboard to a USB port using the supplied 1.8 m cable. Configure lighting and any available settings through the keyboard's built-in controls or compatible software if provided by the vendor. Use the compact tenkeyless layout as a standard typing keyboard for daily tasks, gaming, or professional work. No separate driver installation is typically required for basic keyboard and lighting functionality on modern operating systems.

Recommendations

For long-term durability, keep the keyboard free of dust and liquids; clean keycaps periodically with a dry cloth. If you use advanced RGB profiles or macros, verify software compatibility with your operating system and back up profiles when possible.

10/10

“The black plastic body of this new G80-3000 may not be the most stylish you’ll even encounter but it’s solid enough and provides a solid base for the keys. It is rather resonant, though, something I only noticed when I moved it off my full-desk mouse…”

Pro
  • Good value
  • Quiet typing action
  • Great typing action
Contro
  • No wireless options
  • Base resonant on some surfaces
  • The plastic body feels a bit cheap
