The M-Audio Oxygen Pro 49 is a 49-key USB-powered MIDI controller designed for studio and live production. It combines a velocity-sensitive semi-weighted key bed with aftertouch, 16 RGB backlit performance pads, assignable knobs and a dedicated slider to provide hands-on control of virtual instruments, plugins and DAW functions. The controller includes Smart Chord and Smart Scale modes, an arpeggiator, Note Repeat, auto-mapped DAW integration and bundled software for immediate use.

Advantages

The Oxygen Pro 49 offers deep, automatic integration with most major DAWs through Auto-Mapping, simplifying transport, channel controls, faders and plugin parameter control. Smart Chord and Smart Scale features reduce musical friction by enabling instant chord voicings and scale-locking to avoid incorrect notes. Built-in performance tools such as an arpeggiator, Note Repeat and expressive Channel Aftertouch expand creative options for both production and live performance. A compact, USB-powered design makes it portable and studio-friendly, with both USB-MIDI and 5-pin MIDI output for flexible connectivity.

How to use

Connect the Oxygen Pro 49 to your computer via the included USB cable; the unit is USB-powered so no external power supply is required. Select your DAW on the controller and choose the matching configuration in your DAW to enable Auto-Mapping of transport, faders, channel controls and plugin parameters. Use the Smart Chord mode to trigger full chords from single keys or pads and activate Smart Scale to lock the keyboard to a selected scale. Enable the arpeggiator or Note Repeat from the front panel and set their timing and mode (Momentary or Latch) as needed. Adjust knobs, slider and pads to control virtual instruments and mixer parameters in real time, and use the OLED screen for quick parameter feedback and edits.

Recommendations

For fast workflow integration, choose the DAW preset that matches your software before assigning plugin parameters; enable Smart Scale when sketching melodies to avoid out-of-scale notes and use Latch mode for hands-free arpeggiator or Note Repeat during live performance.
