HDD HPE 1,2 TB 2,5 pollici SAS 10.000 giri/min 718160-B21

The HPE 1.2TB 6G SAS 10K 2.5-inch hard drive is a hot-pluggable, enterprise-class storage device designed for server and storage systems that require fast access and reliable data integrity. With a 1.2TB capacity, 10,000 RPM spindle speed and a dual-port SAS interface, this drive targets business-critical and mission-critical workloads where throughput and availability matter.

Advantages

This 2.5-inch SAS drive combines high rotational speed and an enterprise-grade SAS interface to deliver low latency and consistent performance for transactional and database applications. Dual-port connectivity and the SAS protocol provide improved availability and data integrity compared with consumer interfaces. The compact SFF form factor supports high-density server and storage configurations while maintaining enterprise reliability.

Suitable for

• Database servers and OLTP environments
• Transaction processing and business-critical applications
• Analytics and high-performance computing nodes requiring fast random I/O
• Dense server bays and storage arrays using 2.5-inch drives

When it may not be suitable

This drive is optimized for performance and availability rather than maximum capacity per spindle; environments that prioritize highest capacity per drive (for example, cold storage or bulk archival) may be better served by larger-capacity 3.5-inch drives or nearline/archival HDDs. It is also intended for systems with SAS controllers and may not be compatible with consumer SATA-only controllers.

Key specifications

• Capacity: 1.2 TB
• Form factor: 2.5-inch (SFF)
• Interface: 6 Gbps SAS, dual-port
• Spindle speed: 10,000 RPM
• Typical use: Enterprise / Midline SAS environments
• Weight: 0.45 kg

How to use

Install the drive into a compatible HPE or SAS-capable server or storage enclosure following the vendor's hot-swap procedures. Ensure the server firmware and RAID/SAS controller drivers support the 6 Gbps SAS drive. Configure RAID or direct-attached storage settings per your operational requirements, and monitor drive health via system management tools to maintain availability.

What to consider before purchase

• Verify controller compatibility: requires a SAS-capable controller (6 Gbps) and preferably dual-port support.
• Confirm physical fit: 2.5-inch (SFF) drive bays or appropriate hot-plug carrier for your server model.
• Assess capacity and performance needs: 1.2 TB at 10,000 RPM suits transactional workloads rather than bulk archival.

Recommendations

Use this HPE 1.2TB 10K SAS 2.5-inch drive in RAID configurations for improved redundancy and performance in database and transaction-heavy systems; monitor SMART and controller logs and replace drives proactively based on manufacturer guidance to ensure continuous availability.
