HPE 16TB SAS 12Gb/s 7.2K LFF ISE Helium disco rigido enterprise (P23863-K21)

With a colossal 16TB capacity and helium-sealed mechanics, this HPE enterprise drive delivers relentless nearline performance for data-hungry ProLiant and storage environments. The 12Gb/s SAS interface and 7200 RPM spindle push sustained transfers up to 255 MB/s, while Instant Secure Erase (ISE) enables cryptographic sanitization in seconds. Built on a 3.5-inch LFF platform with a 512 MB cache, it balances massive scale, 2M-hour MTBF reliability, and low 5.5W idle power.

Overview

The HPE P23863-K21 is a 16TB large form factor (LFF) hard drive engineered for enterprise and nearline workloads. It uses helium-filled technology to reduce internal turbulence, allowing seven platters in a standard 3.5-inch enclosure while lowering power consumption and improving reliability. The 12Gb/s SAS interface doubles the bandwidth of 6Gb/s SAS, ensuring rapid data access in multi-drive RAID configurations. With a rotational speed of 7200 RPM and a 512 MB cache buffer, the drive delivers consistent performance for sequential and random workloads. Instant Secure Erase (ISE) provides hardware-based cryptographic erasure, meeting compliance requirements for data disposal without lengthy overwrite processes. The drive is hot-swappable, enabling replacement without downtime in supported HPE ProLiant servers and storage systems.
