ICY DOCK - ToughArmor - MB994IPO-3SB - SAS / SATA - 2x 2,5 inch SATA/SAS HDD/SSD + Slim ODD - backplane 5,25 inch - SAS 12 Gbit/s - SATA - ventola 40 mm

The Icy Dock MB994IPO-3SB is a rugged full-metal dual-bay 2.5" SATA/SAS hot-swap mobile rack with an integrated Slim Optical Disk Drive (ODD) slot designed to fit a single external 5.25" bay. It houses two full-height 2.5" HDD/SSD bays and one 12.7mm slim ODD tray in a compact 5.25" form factor, providing a space-efficient storage solution for medical, military, media server, IPC, HTPC and all-in-one systems. The unit includes dual 4-pin power connectors and a 40mm cooling fan with an on/off switch to maintain stable operation across a wide range of 2.5" drives.

Advantages

Constructed from full metal, the MB994IPO-3SB offers enhanced durability and electromagnetic stability for demanding environments. Dual 4-pin power inputs ensure reliable power delivery to both drives and the optical drive, supporting low-power SATA SSDs as well as high-performance 15,000 RPM SAS drives. The included 40mm fan with a manual switch assists thermal management. Tool-less EZ Slide Mini Trays and a removable EZ-ODD metal tray simplify hot-swap drive replacement and integration of standard 12.7mm slim optical drives.

Suitable for

• Medical and military systems requiring robust storage modules
• Media servers and HTPCs with mixed storage and optical drive needs
• Industrial IPCs and rackmount systems with limited 5.25" bay space
• All-in-one and portable workstations where compact, hot-swappable storage is needed

How to use

Install the MB994IPO-3SB into a single external 5.25" bay and connect the required dual 4-pin power cables and SATA/SAS data connections to your system. Insert 2.5" drives into the EZ Slide Mini Trays and slide them into the bays until they click into place for hot-swap readiness. If using an optical drive, fit any standard 12.7mm slim ODD into the EZ-ODD metal tray, secure the tray with the provided key or side latch, and slide it into the slim slot. Use the fan switch to enable or disable active cooling depending on workload and ambient temperature.

Recommendations

For optimal reliability, use appropriate power cabling to both 4-pin connectors, monitor drive temperatures during sustained workloads, and secure the EZ-ODD tray when transporting systems. Use compatible 12.7mm slim optical drives and ensure trays are fully seated before operation.
