Why choose it

The Irix Edge Black Mist 1/8 SR filter is built for demanding environments. Its Super Resistant coatings repel water and oil, resist scratches, and minimize reflections, ensuring your filter stays clean and performs consistently. The aircraft-grade aluminum frame is both lightweight and durable, while the slim profile prevents vignetting on wide-angle lenses. Unlike cheaper diffusion filters, this model maintains excellent light transmission and color neutrality, so your images retain natural tones with just a hint of softness.

Ideal use cases

• Portrait photography: flatter skin and soften wrinkles
• Wedding and event photography: add a romantic, ethereal quality
• Cinematic videography: achieve a film-like halation around highlights
• Street and travel photography: reduce harsh contrast in bright sunlight
• Product and still life: create a gentle, premium look

Good to know

The 1/8 strength is the most subtle in the Black Mist range, making it a versatile choice for everyday use. It works best when you want a slight softening without sacrificing detail. The filter is compatible with any lens that has an 86mm filter thread, and it can be stacked with other filters if needed. To maintain its performance, clean with a microfiber cloth and avoid harsh chemicals. Irix backs this filter with a reputation for precision German engineering and quality control.
