Montatura parallattica Sky-Watcher NEQ5 con treppiede regolabile in altezza (modello montatura EQ5, MPN SW-4151)

The Sky-Watcher NEQ5 equatorial mount with adjustable-height tripod is a precision mechanical support intended for amateur and semi-professional astronomical use. Designed for accurate polar alignment and smooth sidereal tracking, the NEQ5 mount provides a stable platform for medium to large optical tubes and astrophotography rigs. The adjustable tripod improves observer comfort and setup flexibility on uneven terrain.

Advantages

The mount combines a robust worm-gear drive with fine adjustment controls to deliver steady tracking and reduced periodic error for long-exposure imaging. A counterweight shaft and balance-friendly design help maintain stability with heavier optical assemblies. The adjustable-height tripod features locking legs and non-slip feet to secure the setup and allow rapid changes in observing height. Construction emphasizes durability and repeatable alignment for consistent performance across observing sessions.

Suitable for

• Visual observation of planets, the Moon and deep-sky objects with medium to large telescopes
• Guided long-exposure astrophotography when used with compatible guide scopes and autoguiders
• Portable backyard astronomy and field sessions requiring a stable, adjustable mount
• Users needing precise polar alignment and reliable sidereal tracking

Key specifications

• Equatorial mount type with polar axis and declination axis for sidereal tracking
• Mechanical worm-gear drive system with fine adjustment controls for right ascension and declination
• Counterweight shaft for balance and load distribution
• Adjustable-height tripod with locking leg mechanisms and non-slip feet for uneven surfaces
• Mount head and tripod materials designed for rigidity and resistance to flex under load

How to use

Set up the tripod on a stable surface and extend the legs to a comfortable observing height, then lock the leg clamps. Attach the equatorial head to the tripod and secure the mount head fasteners. Fit the optical tube to the mount using the appropriate dovetail or saddle, then add counterweights on the shaft and balance the assembly in both right ascension and declination. Perform a polar alignment by adjusting the mount’s altitude and azimuth controls to align the polar axis with the celestial pole. After alignment, use the mount’s slow-motion controls or motor drives (if fitted) to track celestial objects and make guiding adjustments for imaging.

Recommendations

Balance the telescope carefully before each session to reduce strain on gears and improve tracking accuracy. Use gradual, small adjustments during polar alignment and allow the mount to settle after moving to reduce vibration. For long-exposure photography, combine the mount with a compatible autoguider and stiff tripod positioning on solid ground; avoid placing the tripod on soft or unstable surfaces. Regularly check and tighten mounting hardware and apply manufacturer-recommended maintenance to gear interfaces.
