Switch di rete LANBERG DSM1-1005 5x 1 Gb/s unmanaged desktop, case in metallo, 12V

Description: Unmanaged simple switch that gets the job done The DSM1-1005 is a compact, unmanaged desktop switch designed for home use as well as SOHO and SMB environments. As an unmanaged model, it doesnt require logging into a panel, setting VLANs, or configuring rulesyou get maximum usability right out of the box. This makes it ideal when you simply want to add more ports and enjoy hassle-free operation. In practice, this means the device works perfectly for home networks and small offices: expanding connectivity for computers, printers, TVs, NAS devices, access points, or surveillance equipment. Noise is also important in this class: passive cooling and no fan ensure comfort, especially when the switch sits on a desk. Plug & Play and switch-side automation The DSM1-1005 works on a Plug & Play basis. The switch provides full switching support for its 5 RJ-45 ports, enabling quick connections and stable operation without user intervention. This automation makes installation simple: plug in the cables, and the device automatically handles the basics. Desktop 5-port switch fast network expansion without complications At its core, the DSM1-1005 has 5 Gigabit RJ-45 ports, ideal for a desk, shelf, or small network setup. This is usually all you need to offload your router and conveniently connect several wired devices in one locationno splitters, no compromises. If you want a simple setuprouter + 5-port switchthis type of switch is the most versatile. You get 5 gigabit connections in a compact desktop form factor, without extra features that increase the price unnecessarily. 5 Gigabit Ethernet ports in practice 5 ports allow you to connect all key wired devices in one spot. 5× Gigabit ports help maintain high LAN responsiveness even with multiple devices active simultaneously (file transfers to NAS, 4K streaming, updates, remote work). Gigabit and throughput when LAN smoothness matters The DSM1-1005 delivers 1 Gbps per port (1000 Mb/s) and a total switching capacity of 10 Gbps with a 7 Mbit buffer. In practice, the LAN is ready for typical home or office loads, and the switch doesnt become a bottleneck when multiple devices are active simultaneously. The 2K MAC address table and MAC auto-learning further improve frame forwarding and stabilize network performance in everyday scenariosparticularly useful when connecting devices with varying traffic patterns (NAS, TV, PC, DVR). MDI/MDI-X and auto-negotiation The DSM1-1005 automatically adjusts for straight-through or crossover cables (MDI/MDI-X)no separate uplink ports or guessing required. Links are established quickly thanks to auto-negotiation, delivering 5× 1 Gbps ports with automatic connection handling. Configuration is truly plug-and-play: connect the device to a port, and it just works. Flow control fewer issues under load Built-in Flow Control manages traffic to prevent port congestion when a receiving device temporarily cant keep up. This is particularly useful for large transfers or networks where multiple ports are heavily used at once. Metal casing stability, durability, and better cooling The DSM1-1005 stands out with its metal casing, which offers real benefits in daily use. A metal switch is more resistant to accidental bumps, desk movement, or technical environments (backrooms, network cabinets, service offices). The steel enclosure also adds physical stabilitynothing flexes, giving the impression of a device built to last. Additionally, the metal helps dissipate heat, and passive cooling means the switch remains silent, dust-free, and stable, which is important for 24/7 operation with active ports. Mounting and placement As a desktop switch, the DSM1-1005 naturally sits on a desk, shelf, or cabinet. For organized cabling setups, it can also be mounted under a desk or within enclosures. The metal case handles these arrangements well, while port access remains convenient. | Switch class: Unmanaged | Application: Home and small office | Network architecture: GigabitEthernet | Number of 10/100/1000 Mbps ports: 5 | Throughput: 10 | Memory buffer: 7 | MAC address table size: 2000 | Supported protocols and standards: IEEE 802.3ab 1000Base-T | Other functions: Automatic MDI/MDI-X, Flow control, MAC auto-learning | Chassis type: Desktop | Fan: No | Power supply: External | Environment requirements: Recommended ambient temperature: 0 - 50°C Recommended ambient humidity: 10 - 90% | Power supply: 100~240V AC 0.3A, 12V DC 1A | Dimensions: 100 x 65 x 24 mm | Weight: 0.14

How to use

Place the LANBERG DSM1-1005 on a stable surface or mount within a small cabinet ensuring adequate ventilation around the metal case. Connect a compatible 12V DC adapter to the power input and plug the adapter into a mains outlet. Use standard Ethernet cables to connect computers, routers, NAS devices or other network equipment to the RJ-45 ports. The switch operates without configuration; connected devices will negotiate link speed and duplex automatically. Monitor link/activity LEDs to confirm proper connections.

Recommendations

For reliable operation, use quality Cat5e or Cat6 cables to achieve Gigabit speeds and avoid placing the switch in areas with poor ventilation or excessive dust. When integrating with more complex networks, place the unmanaged switch on the edge of the network behind a router or managed switch to maintain central control of routing and VLANs.
