Switch di rete LANBERG DSM1-1008 8x 1 Gb/s unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet desktop 12V case in metallo

Description: Unmanaged simple switch that gets the job done The DSM1-1008 is a compact, unmanaged desktop switch designed for home use as well as SOHO and SMB environments. As an unmanaged model, it doesnt require logging into a panel, setting VLANs, or configuring rulesyou get maximum usability right out of the box. This approach is ideal when you simply want to add more ports and enjoy hassle-free operation. In practice, this means the device works perfectly for home networks and small offices: expanding connectivity for computers, printers, TVs, NAS devices, access points, or surveillance equipment. Noise is also important in this class: passive cooling and no fan provide comfort, especially when the switch sits on a desk. Plug & Play and switch-side automation The DSM1-1008 works on a Plug & Play basis. The switch supports switching functions for 8 RJ-45 ports, enabling fast connections and stable operation without user intervention. This automation makes installation simple: plug in the cables, and the device automatically handles the basics. Desktop 8-port switch fast network expansion without hassle At its core, the DSM1-1008 has 8 Gigabit RJ-45 ports, ideal for a desk, shelf, or small network setup. This is usually all you need to offload your router and conveniently connect several wired devices in one locationno splitters, no compromises. If you want a simple setuprouter + 8-port switchthis type of switch is highly versatile. You get 8 gigabit connections in a compact desktop form factor, without extra features that drive up the price unnecessarily. 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports in practice 8 ports allow you to connect all key wired devices in one spot. 8× Gigabit ports help maintain high LAN responsiveness even with multiple devices active simultaneously (file transfers to NAS, 4K streaming, updates, remote work). Gigabit and throughput when LAN smoothness matters The DSM1-1008 delivers 1 Gbps per port (1000 Mb/s) and a total switching capacity of 10 Gbps with a 7 Mbit buffer. In practice, the LAN handles typical home and office loads, and the switch doesnt become a bottleneck when multiple devices are active simultaneously. The 2K MAC address table and MAC auto-learning improve frame forwarding and stabilize network performance in everyday scenariosespecially useful when connecting devices with different traffic patterns (NAS, TV, PC, DVR). MDI/MDI-X and auto-negotiation The DSM1-1008 automatically adjusts for straight-through or crossover cables (MDI/MDI-X)no separate uplink ports or guessing required. Links are established quickly thanks to auto-negotiation, delivering 8× 1 Gbps ports with automatic connection handling. Configuration is truly plug-and-play: connect the device to a port, and it works immediately. Flow control fewer issues under heavy load Built-in Flow Control manages traffic to reduce the risk of port congestion when a receiving device temporarily cannot keep up. This is particularly useful for large transfers or networks where multiple ports are heavily used at once. Metal casing stability, durability, and better cooling What immediately stands out with the DSM1-1008 is its steel enclosure, a real advantage in daily use. The metal switch is more resistant to accidental bumps, desk movement, or technical environments (network cabinets, backrooms, service offices). In practice, the steel casing also provides better stabilitynothing flexes, giving the impression of a device built to last. Additionally, steel helps dissipate heat, and passive cooling ensures the switch operates silently, dust-free, and stable, which is important for 24/7 operation with active ports. Mounting and placement As a desktop switch, the DSM1-1008 naturally sits on a desk, shelf, or cabinet. For organized cabling setups, it can also be mounted under a desk or within enclosures (e.g., near a cable bundle). The metal case handles such arrangements well, while port access remains convenient. | Switch class: Unmanaged | Application: Home and small office | Network architecture: GigabitEthernet | Number of 10/100/1000 Mbps ports: 8 | Throughput: 10 | Memory buffer: 11 | MAC address table size: 2000 | Support for Jumbo frames: No | Supported protocols and standards: IEEE 802.3ab 1000Base-T | Other functions: Automatic MDI/MDI-X Flow control MAC auto-learning | Chassis type: Desktop | Fan: No | Power supply: External | Environment requirements: Recommended ambient temperature: 0 - 40°C Recommended ambient humidity: 10 - 90% | Power supply: 100~240V AC 0.3A 12V DC 1A | Dimensions: 138 x 78 x 25 mm | Weight: 0.23

How to use

Place the switch on a stable surface or shelf and connect the external 12V power adapter to the device. Use standard Ethernet cables to connect computers, routers, NAS devices or other networked equipment to the Gigabit ports. The LANBERG DSM1-1008 requires no software configuration; once powered and cabled, it automatically learns MAC addresses and forwards traffic at wire speed. Monitor link and activity LEDs to confirm proper connections and data transmission.

Recommendations

For best performance, use Cat5e or Cat6 Ethernet cables to ensure full Gigabit throughput. Position the metal-housed switch in a ventilated area to avoid obstructing heat dissipation. When integrating with a router or firewall, connect the uplink port to the network gateway and avoid creating redundant physical loops unless a loop-prevention device is present.
