The PLANET IGS-5225-8P4S is an industrial L2+ managed Gigabit Ethernet switch in a rugged IP30 metal housing designed for harsh environments. It provides 8 10/100/1000BASE-T PoE+ ports (each up to 36 W) and 4 100/1000X SFP fiber ports, a total PoE budget of 240 W, Layer 2/L4 switching, Layer 3 static routing, IPv4/IPv6 management, and industrial-grade features such as ITU-T G.8032 ERPS for rapid ring recovery and operation in temperatures from -40 to 75°C.

How to use

Install the IGS-5225-8P4S in a suitable industrial location using the supplied wall-mount brackets or rack accessories. Connect power (DC 48–56 V) and link fiber SFPs or RJ-45 Gigabit devices as required. Configure management via the web GUI, console, Telnet, or SNMPv3; enable PoE schedules, ONVIF device discovery and PoE alive-checks as needed. For ring topologies enable ERPS or MSTP and configure redundant power inputs to achieve fast recovery and high availability.

Recommendations

For stable operation in surveillance and wireless networks, assign VLANs for traffic separation, enable PoE scheduling to reduce energy consumption, use the PoE alive check or scheduled power recycling for problematic devices, and enable the switch’s cybersecurity features (802.1x, DHCP Snooping, SNMPv3) to protect management access.
