Access point wireless Alcatel-Lucent OAW-AP1361-RW 2.4 GHz 5 GHz Wi-Fi 6

The Alcatel-Lucent OmniAccess Stellar Outdoor AP1360 series (model OAW-AP1361-RW) is a rugged, high-performance Wi‑Fi 6 (802.11ax) outdoor access point that supports dual-band operation on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Built for dense environments and IoT-enabled enterprise deployments, the AP1361-RW integrates four radios — dual client radios for 2.4/5 GHz, a full-band scanning radio, and an integrated Bluetooth/Zigbee radio — and supports multigig Ethernet uplink and optional SFP backhaul. The unit is IP67 rated for harsh outdoor conditions and provides secure, high-capacity wireless connectivity with a maximum aggregate data rate up to approximately 3 Gbps.

Advantages

The AP1361-RW increases throughput and client capacity using 802.11ax features such as OFDMA, MU‑MIMO and 1024‑QAM, improving performance for bandwidth- and latency-sensitive applications like voice and video. The additional full-band scanning radio enhances security and RF quality by enabling continuous monitoring without impacting client traffic. Integrated Bluetooth/Zigbee expands location services and building automation capabilities while IP67 sealing and industrial surge protection ensure reliable outdoor operation. Multigig Ethernet and SFP options enable flexible backhaul and wired IoT device connections.

How to use

Mount the AP1361-RW at the planned outdoor location following the manufacturer’s mechanical and grounding instructions. Connect power using Power over Ethernet (PoE) on the multigig Ethernet uplink or use the SFP uplink for fibre backhaul where required. Configure SSIDs, security (WPA2/WPA3), RF profiles and 802.11ax features (OFDMA, MU‑MIMO) via the OmniAccess Stellar controller or supported management interface. Use the dedicated scanning radio for continuous RF monitoring and enable Bluetooth/Zigbee if location or automation services are required.

Recommendations

Place units to provide overlapping but non-interfering coverage for high-density areas, use multigig links where available to avoid bottlenecks, and enable 802.11ax features and continuous scanning to maximize capacity, security, and roaming performance in outdoor environments.
