Access point wireless RUCKUS Networks 901-R550-WW00 2,4 GHz 5 GHz

The RUCKUS R550 access point uses Wi‑Fi 6 (802.11ax) to meet growing capacity needs in classrooms, offices and medium‑size venues. This mid‑range dual‑band, dual‑concurrent AP supports four spatial streams (2x2:2 on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and delivers peak aggregate data rates up to 1774 Mbps while managing up to 512 client connections. Built‑in BLE and Zigbee enable unified Wi‑Fi and IoT deployments, and channel and mesh automation simplify operation and deployment.

Advantages

Adaptive BeamFlex+™ antennas mitigate interference and extend coverage using directional patterns. Four MU‑MIMO spatial streams and concurrent dual‑band radios allow more devices to connect and maintain performance. ChannelFly dynamic channel selection uses machine learning to choose less congested channels for optimal throughput. SmartMesh wireless meshing reduces cabling and automates resilient mesh creation. The R550 also integrates with RUCKUS software services such as the IoT Suite, Cloudpath, SPoT and analytics for extended functionality beyond basic Wi‑Fi.

How to use

Install the R550 in the desired ceiling or wall location and provide PoE power from a compatible switch or injector. Use the RUCKUS management platform (on‑premises or cloud) to provision SSIDs, security policies and IoT integrations for BLE and Zigbee. Enable ChannelFly to let the AP dynamically select optimal channels and enable SmartMesh if you prefer wireless meshing to reduce cabling. Monitor performance and analytics through the RUCKUS dashboard and adjust radio or placement settings if necessary to improve coverage.

Recommendations

For best results in dense deployments, place APs to provide overlapping coverage without excessive co‑channel interference, enable ChannelFly for dynamic channel selection, and use SmartMesh only where cabling is impractical. Ensure PoE switches supply the required power budget and integrate the R550 with RUCKUS management and IoT services for centralized control and extended functionality.
