Alimentatore AC/DC open frame Mean Well HEP-185-24A 24 V DC 7,8 A 185 W con terminali a filo

Mean Well HEP-185-24A is an AC/DC open-frame power supply that delivers a regulated 24 V DC output at up to 7.8 A (185 W). The unit features open cable leads for direct wiring into control cabinets or embedded assemblies, and its open-frame design allows for integration where forced or natural ventilation is available. It is intended for industrial and automation environments that require a compact external power source with consistent voltage regulation and sufficient output current for peripherals, controllers, and LED loads.

Advantages

The open-frame construction offers a compact footprint and straightforward mechanical integration into enclosures or panels. Open cable leads simplify connection to terminal blocks or harnesses without additional connector housings. The supply provides stable 24 V regulation under variable loads and includes protections common to industrial supplies, enabling reliable operation in systems with transient events. Thermal design assumes available ventilation, allowing for efficient heat dissipation in mounted installations.

Suitable for

• Industrial control systems and PLC power
• Automation equipment and process controllers
• LED driver applications and lighting control
• Embedded systems and communication devices
• Test benches and laboratory power for 24 V devices

Key specifications

• Output voltage: 24 V DC
• Maximum output current: 7.8 A
• Maximum output power: 185 W
• Form factor: open-frame chassis with open cable leads for direct wiring
• Cooling method: convection or forced ventilation recommended
• Intended use: AC to DC conversion for industrial and embedded applications

How to use

Mount the open-frame supply inside an enclosure or on a chassis that provides adequate ventilation and adheres to applicable safety standards. Secure the unit mechanically using the provided mounting points, route the AC input and DC output cable leads to appropriate terminal connections or harnesses, and ensure correct polarity on the 24 V output. Before applying power, verify that the intended load does not exceed the rated 7.8 A output and that the enclosure temperature and airflow meet the manufacturer's operating conditions. Perform initial power-up and load tests to confirm stable voltage and proper operation of connected equipment.

Recommendations

Install the power supply where airflow is not obstructed and avoid placement near heat sources. Use appropriate overcurrent protection on the AC input and DC output, and route cables to minimize mechanical stress on the open cable leads. If the application is exposed to dust, moisture, or corrosive agents, use a suitably rated enclosure to protect the open-frame unit. Follow applicable electrical safety and EMC practices when integrating the supply into equipment.
