CBO cavo ottico attivo InfiniBand QSFP-AOC-5M-MT-BO 5 m

CBO InfiniBand Active Optical Cable QSFP-AOC-5M-MT-BO 5 m is a 5-metre active optical cable designed for QSFP interfaces and InfiniBand environments. It provides optical signal transmission between QSFP-equipped devices across a short 5 m distance, offering reduced electrical interference and low latency compared with copper interconnects. The cable is intended for high-density data center connections such as server-to-switch and rack-to-rack links where stable, high-speed optical connectivity is required.

Advantages

This active optical cable reduces susceptibility to electromagnetic interference and eliminates the need for separate transceivers, enabling a compact direct optical connection between QSFP ports. The optical medium supports high data rates with low insertion loss and minimal latency, while the fixed-length design simplifies cabling management in dense rack deployments. The cable's construction provides consistent signal integrity over the specified 5 m span and helps maintain predictable performance for InfiniBand traffic.

Suitable for

• Short-range interconnects between QSFP-enabled switches and servers
• High-speed InfiniBand fabrics within a rack or across adjacent racks
• Data centre top-of-rack and end-of-row optical links

Key specifications

• Connector type: QSFP to QSFP active optical assembly
• Length: 5 metres
• Transmission medium: multimode optical fibre with active components
• Latency: low, suitable for InfiniBand traffic
• Typical application: short-range, high-speed data centre interconnects
• Compatibility: QSFP ports supporting optical AOC connections and InfiniBand protocols

How to use

Install the CBO QSFP-AOC-5M-MT-BO by inserting each QSFP end into the corresponding QSFP port on your devices while the devices are powered according to your equipment vendor guidelines. Ensure port compatibility and that device firmware supports AOC links. Route the cable carefully through the rack to avoid sharp bends and mechanical strain; secure as needed with cable management accessories. The AOC is a fixed-length, plug-and-play solution and typically requires no additional configuration beyond port enablement.

Recommendations

Verify QSFP port type and InfiniBand support on both endpoints before installation. Maintain the cable bend radius within the manufacturer's guidelines, avoid exposing the optical connector ends to dust, and use dust caps when connectors are not engaged. For optimal performance, use the AOC within the specified 5 m range in controlled data centre environments.
