BlueOptics Q28-AOC-7M-PS-BO cavo in fibra ottica InfiniBand 7 m OM3

The BlueOptics Q28-AOC-7M-PS-BO InfiniBand fibre optic cable 7m OM3 is an active optical cable (AOC) with QSFP28 connectors on both ends designed for short-distance, high-speed links. With OM3 multimode fibre (50 µm core) and a 7 metre length, this AOC converts electrical signals to optical and back, enabling 100GBASE-SR4 class connectivity for hardware inside racks or between adjacent racks. The cable jacket uses flame-resistant LSZH material to reduce smoke and halogen release in case of fire. Each cable is factory new, tested for functionality and conforms to industry interoperability standards.

Advantages

The active optical construction provides lower weight and greater flexibility compared with passive twinax DAC alternatives while maintaining hot-pluggable QSFP28 connectivity. Built-in electrical-to-optical and optical-to-electrical conversion inside the QSFP28 transceivers supports stable 100G transmission over multimode OM3 fibre. The product is manufactured to SFF/MSA and IEEE considerations, uses quality components, and is produced and tested to comply with common industrial standards for safety and electromagnetic compatibility.

Suitable for

• High-performance computing clusters requiring 100 Gbps links
• Data centre rack-to-rack connections over short distances (within or between adjacent racks)
• Switch-to-switch or switch-to-server connections using QSFP28 ports
• Environments where reduced cable weight and improved bend radius are beneficial

Key specifications

• Length: 7 metres
• Connector type: QSFP28 to QSFP28 (hot-pluggable)
• Fibre type: OM3 multimode, 50 µm core diameter
• Application class: 100GBASE-SR4 / InfiniBand high-speed links
• Jacket: LSZH (low smoke, halogen free, flame resistant)
• Bend radius and diameter: improved (smaller) compared with passive twinax solutions

How to use

Install the BlueOptics QSFP28-to-QSFP28 AOC by aligning and inserting each QSFP28 connector into compatible QSFP28 ports on installed switches, servers or direct-attach modules. The cable is hot-pluggable; ensure devices are powered and that firmware or port settings support 100GBASE-SR4 or the intended InfiniBand signalling. Route the cable to avoid sharp bends beyond the specified bend radius and secure it to avoid stress on the connectors. No separate transceivers or optical modules are required because conversion electronics are integrated into the cable ends.

Recommendations

Use this 7 m OM3 AOC for short-distance, high-throughput connections inside racks or between adjacent racks where reduced weight, improved flexibility and compliance with safety standards are required. Verify QSFP28 port compatibility and ensure installed equipment supports the 100G Ethernet or InfiniBand protocol intended for the link.
