Case SSD Inter-Tech K-1685 nero M.2

The Inter-Tech K-1685 Black M.2 SSD enclosure provides a compact, portable solution for converting a single M.2 storage drive into an external USB drive. Constructed from aluminium and finished in black, the enclosure connects via USB Type-C and supports data transfer rates up to 10 Gbit/s, enabling fast access to files and simplified storage expansion for laptops, desktops and mobile workstations.

Advantages

This aluminium Inter-Tech enclosure offers a lightweight and durable housing for one M.2 drive, combining portability with heat-dissipating material. The USB Type-C interface delivers high-speed connectivity and broad compatibility with modern hosts. The unit's compact dimensions and 0.135 kg weight make it straightforward to carry and integrate into existing workflows without adding significant bulk.

Suitable for

• Backing up or transporting large media files from an M.2 SSD
• Expanding external storage for laptops and mini PCs
• Accessing and cloning data from a single M.2 drive
• Temporary use as a bootable external drive for diagnostics or system recovery

Key specifications

• Supported drives: one M.2 storage drive
• Interface to host: USB Type-C
• Maximum data transfer rate: 10 Gbit/s
• Material: aluminium for housing and improved thermal performance
• Product colour: black
• Weight: 0.135 kg

How to use

Open the enclosure according to the manufacturer's assembly method, insert a compatible M.2 drive into the slot and secure it in place. Close the enclosure and connect it to a computer or compatible host device using a USB Type-C cable. The host operating system should recognise the drive as an external storage device; format the drive if required by the operating system before first use. Safely eject the device from the host before disconnecting to prevent data loss.

Recommendations

For sustained high-speed transfers, ensure the host device supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 or equivalent to approach the 10 Gbit/s throughput. Use the enclosure on a stable surface with adequate ventilation to benefit from the aluminium housing’s thermal properties and avoid exposure to liquid or excessive shock.
