The SFP28 Active Optical Cable CBO BlueOptics BO272703Q20M 20 m is a pre-terminated duplex AOC with integrated SFP28 connectors designed for 25Gbps short-range links between switches, servers or NICs. This 20 meter active optical cable delivers low-latency, energy-efficient optical connectivity without the need for separate transceivers, simplifying cabling in data center and enterprise interconnect environments while reducing port power consumption.

Advantages

This active optical cable provides direct 25Gbps connectivity with minimal signal loss and low latency, eliminating the complexity of installing separate transceivers and patch cables. The pre-terminated design reduces installation time and the chance of connector contamination. Its optical nature enables lower power draw at the port compared to equivalent electrical copper solutions, and the cable construction supports flexible routing in rack and cable-tray environments.

Suitable for

• Short-range 25Gbps links between network switches in data centers
• Direct connections between servers and NICs requiring 25Gbps bandwidth
• Top-of-rack to aggregation switch interconnects
• High-density patching where port power and heat must be minimized

Key specifications

• Connector type: SFP28 duplex on both ends
• Data rate: 25 Gigabits per second per channel
• Cable type: Active Optical Cable (AOC), duplex optical link
• Length: 20 meters
• Latency: low-latency optical transmission suitable for high-performance networking
• Power: reduced port power consumption compared with comparable copper links
• Compatibility: intended for devices with SFP28 cages supporting 25Gbps links

How to use

Install the SFP28 AOC by inserting each SFP28 connector into the corresponding SFP28 port on your switch, server or NIC until it latches. Ensure devices are powered and configured to operate at 25Gbps or with auto-negotiation enabled for short-range optical links. Route the cable to avoid sharp bends and mechanical stress; secure as required to prevent strain on the connectors. No separate transceivers or fiber patch cords are required since the optical elements and connectors are pre-terminated and integrated.

Recommendations

Verify that network equipment supports SFP28 optical modules and 25Gbps operation before deployment. Maintain connector cleanliness, avoid tight bends below the manufacturer’s minimum bend radius, and handle the cable by the connector housings when inserting or removing to extend service life and ensure reliable optical performance.
