CBO AOC SFP28 BlueOptics BO272703Q3M cavo ottico attivo, 3 m

The CBO AOC SFP28 BlueOptics BO272703Q3M active optical cable is a 3 m link designed for SFP28 ports in switches, servers and other 25GbE-capable network equipment. This fixed-length AOC provides a direct optical connection with plug-and-play operation, intended for short-reach high-speed links in data centers and server rooms. Compared with copper direct-attach cables, the optical design lowers electrical power consumption and reduces heat generation while maintaining signal integrity for 25 Gigabit Ethernet applications.

Advantages

The cable delivers reliable 25GbE performance over a short 3 m distance with low insertion loss and immunity to electromagnetic interference. Its active optical transceivers enable simplified cabling and reduced weight compared with equivalent copper assemblies. The plug-and-play SFP28 form factor allows seamless hot-plug installation in compatible ports without additional configuration. The optical medium helps reduce power draw and thermal load in dense rack environments.

Suitable for

• Connecting SFP28 ports between switches and top-of-rack or leaf switches
• Linking servers to switches in data center racks
• High-speed short-reach 25GbE connections in server rooms and network closets
• Cable consolidation where reduced heat and lower power consumption are required

Key specifications

• Connector type: SFP28 active optical cable (AOC)
• Supported link speed: 25 Gigabit Ethernet
• Fixed cable length: 3 metres
• Operating medium: multi-mode/modeled optical AOC assembly providing low-loss optical transmission
• Typical use distance: short-reach data center interconnects
• Form factor: hot-pluggable SFP28 transceiver modules integrated on both ends

How to use

Insert each SFP28 end of the active optical cable into compatible SFP28 ports on the devices you intend to connect. Ensure both devices support SFP28 AOC modules and that port speed is configured or auto-negotiated for 25GbE. The cable is hot-pluggable; it can be installed or removed while the equipment is powered, following your hardware vendor’s instructions. Route the cable to avoid sharp bends and mechanical strain on the connectors to maintain signal integrity and service life.

Recommendations

Verify compatibility with your switch or server vendor and check port firmware or compatibility lists if available. Keep bend radius within manufacturer limits and avoid exposure to temperatures or conditions outside standard data center environments. For best performance, use the cable for intra-rack or short inter-rack 25GbE links where optical AOC advantages—lower heat and power—are desirable.
