Fotocellula Panasonic PM-L65-P, tipo L, 5–24 V DC, commutazione chiaro/scuro

Panasonic PM-L65-P is an L-type photocell light barrier for optical object detection and presence sensing. The sensor operates from a 5–24 V DC supply and supports both light-on and dark-on switching modes, allowing flexible configuration for differing application requirements. Supplied as a single unit, the device is designed for installation in industrial environments where dependable, compact optical detection is needed.

Advantages

The L-type housing provides a compact form factor suitable for tight installation spaces while maintaining stable optical performance. Wide operating voltage range (5–24 V DC) ensures compatibility with common industrial power supplies. Dual switching modes (light-on and dark-on) permit straightforward integration into existing control logic without additional in-line components. The design focuses on repeatable detection and simple electrical connection for rapid commissioning and maintenance.

Suitable for

• Object detection on conveyor belts and material handling systems
• Presence sensing for machine safety and process control
• Edge or profile detection in assembly and packaging lines
• Integration into PLC-based automation and discrete control circuits

Key specifications

• Type: L-type photocell light barrier
• Supply voltage: 5–24 V DC
• Switching modes: light-on (normally light) and dark-on (normally dark)
• Output: single switching output (configured for light/dark switching)
• Mounting: compact housing suitable for panel or machine-frame installation

How to use

Mount the photocell so that the emitter and receiver are aligned across the intended detection path, or install opposite a reflector if used in reflective mode. Connect the supply voltage within the 5–24 V DC range and wire the switching output to the control input of the PLC, relay, or machine controller. Select the required switching mode (light-on or dark-on) according to the detection logic of the application. Verify alignment and sensitivity using test objects and adjust the sensor position to achieve reliable switching without false triggers.

Recommendations

For stable operation, protect the sensing path from excessive ambient light and dust; if installed in dusty or oily environments consider periodic cleaning and protective housings. Use shielded cabling for longer runs to reduce electrical interference and follow local wiring standards for safe grounding and power connections.
