Portamina Staedtler 778 07-9, fusto esagonale, nero, mina 0,7 mm

Staedtler 778 07-9 is a single-piece mechanical pencil with a hexagonal black shaft and 0.7 mm graphite lead, designed for precise writing and technical sketching. The slim hexagonal barrel offers a stable grip for everyday note-taking, drafting and drawing, while the 0.7 mm lead provides consistent black lines appropriate for detailed work. The pencil is supplied as a single unit with a matt black finish and metal tip and clip for durability.

Advantages

The hexagonal shaft resists rolling and promotes a steady hold during prolonged use. A metal tip and clip add robustness, and the cushioned lead helps reduce breakage during pressure variations. The integrated rotary eraser in the pusher allows quick corrections without needing a separate eraser, and the retractable lead tube increases pocket safety when carried.

Suitable for

• Everyday note-taking and writing
• Technical sketching and drafting
• Detailed drawing and illustration requiring 0.7 mm lead
• Students and professionals who prefer a slim, non-rolling barrel

When it may not be suitable

This pencil uses 0.7 mm graphite lead, which is firmer and better for precision than thicker leads; it may not be ideal for broad shading or very soft, expressive sketching that benefit from thicker or softer leads. It is a single-piece mechanical pencil supplied as one unit, so users needing an assortment or spare parts included in the package should plan to purchase leads and refills separately.

Key specifications

• Lead diameter: 0.7 mm
• Lead colour: Black (graphite)
• Barrel shape: Hexagonal
• Barrel colour and finish: Black, matt
• Tip and clip: Metal
• Features: Cushioned lead, integrated rotary eraser, retractable lead tube for pocket safety
• Quantity per pack: 1 piece

How to use

Advance the 0.7 mm lead by pressing the pusher; the integrated rotary eraser is operated by turning the pusher to reveal the eraser, and it can be used for on-the-spot corrections. To refill, insert 0.7 mm graphite leads of the chosen grade into the lead chamber following the manufacturer’s recommended refill method. Retract the lead when transporting to protect the tip and avoid accidental marks.

What to consider before purchase

• Preferred lead diameter and drawing style — 0.7 mm is suited for precise lines but not for broad shading
• Need for spare leads and eraser refills, which are not included with the single unit
• Preference for a slim hexagonal barrel and matt black finish for grip and aesthetics

Recommendations

For best results use high-quality 0.7 mm graphite leads compatible with mechanical pencils and retract the lead for safe transport. If you require softer tones or broader strokes, consider pairing this pencil with softer leads or a separate softer drawing tool.
