Switch unmanaged LevelOne FEP-1612 16-Port Fast Ethernet PoE

The LevelOne FEP-1612 is an unmanaged Fast Ethernet switch with 16 10/100 Mbps ports that provide IEEE 802.3at/af Power over Ethernet (PoE). The switch supports auto MDI/MDIX on all 16 ports and can supply power to compatible IEEE 802.3af or 802.3at powered devices, making it suitable for connecting IP phones, wireless access points and cameras while delivering both data and power over a single cable.

Advantages

The FEP-1612 offers plug-and-play operation with auto MDI/MDIX and auto-negotiation, simplifying installation regardless of cabling. It includes PoE auto-detection and protection for non-standard devices and uses a non-blocking 3.2 Gbps backplane to support higher aggregate throughput. Its 19-inch metal housing and IEEE 802.3x flow control improve reliability for small-to-medium network deployments.

Key specifications

• Ports: 16 x 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet with PoE (IEEE 802.3af/at)
• PoE budget: 480 W total, up to 30 W per port
• Backplane: Non-blocking 3.2 Gbps
• MAC table: 4K entries with auto-learning and auto-aging
• Duplex/negotiation: Full/Half duplex, Auto-Negotiation, Auto-MDI/MDIX
• Flow control: IEEE 802.3x
• Form factor: 19-inch metal housing

How to use

Mount the switch in a standard 19-inch rack or place it on a flat surface. Connect your computers, IP phones, cameras or access points to the 10/100 Mbps ports using standard Ethernet cables; the switch will automatically detect MDI/MDIX and negotiate speed and duplex. PoE-capable ports will provide power to IEEE 802.3af/at devices automatically when connected. Ensure the total power consumption of connected PoE devices does not exceed the 480 W budget.

Recommendations

For reliable operation, use quality Cat5e or Cat6 cabling for PoE deployments, distribute high-power devices across ports to avoid exceeding the 480 W budget, and install the switch in a ventilated rack or cabinet to maintain adequate cooling.
