HDD Western Digital 18 TB 3.5 pollici Serial ATA III Ultrastar DC HC555

Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC555 18 TB is a 3.5" SATA III internal hard drive designed for 24×7 multi-user data center and enterprise environments. With 18 TB capacity, 7200 RPM spindle speed and a 512 MB buffer, the drive uses proven Ultrastar hardware platforms, Triple-Stage Actuator (TSA) and HelioSeal® helium technology to deliver high density, low power consumption and dependable performance for intensive workloads.

Advantages

The HC555 combines field-proven components and modern technologies such as energy-assisted perpendicular magnetic recording (ePMR) and TSA to increase tracks-per-inch and enable higher capacities while keeping power use low. HelioSeal reduces internal turbulence and contributes to one of the lowest power profiles in its class. Built on a widely deployed Ultrastar platform, the drive offers rapid qualification and integration for existing systems and a projected MTBF of 2,500,000 hours for reliable operation.

Suitable for

• Enterprise data center storage
• High-density archival and nearline storage
• Multi-user 24×7 workloads
• Backup, large-scale file repositories and object storage

Follow your server or storage system vendor instructions for RAID configuration, drive initialization and firmware updates. For best results, integrate the drive into systems that support high-density helium drives and ensure proper cooling and vibration management within the chassis.

Recommendations

Use the HC555 in enterprise storage arrays, nearline or archival systems where high capacity, continuous operation and low power per TB are priorities. Provision appropriate cooling, monitor vibration in high-density enclosures, and apply vendor-recommended firmware and maintenance procedures to maintain reliability.
