Cavo DAC CBO QSFP28-DAC-5M 5 m passivo QSFP28 Direct Attach Copper

Passive DAC cable CBO QSFP28-DAC-5M is a 5-meter direct attach copper cable with QSFP28 connectors designed for 100GbE short-reach links. It provides a low-latency, energy-efficient physical connection between switches, routers and servers inside racks or for rack-to-rack interconnects. The cable supports multimode data center topologies where a reliable, cost-effective copper link is required for high-throughput, short-distance networking.

Advantages

This passive QSFP28 direct attach copper cable delivers high data throughput with minimal latency while consuming no additional power for active signal conditioning. Its fixed 5 m length simplifies planning for rack-to-rack connections and reduces inventory complexity compared with optical modules and separate fiber patch cords. The QSFP28 connector form factor ensures compatibility with equipment supporting 100GbE QSFP28 ports and provides a robust mechanical connection suited to dense data center environments.

Suitable for

• Short-reach 100GbE connections inside racks
• Rack-to-rack links in data centers
• Interconnects between switches, routers and servers
• High-throughput, low-latency network segments

Key specifications

• Cable type: Passive direct attach copper (DAC)
• Connector type: QSFP28 to QSFP28
• Length: 5 m
• Data rate: 100 Gigabit Ethernet (100GbE) compatible
• Latency: Low, passive copper link
• Operating environment: Designed for short-range, in-rack and rack-to-rack use

How to use

Install the QSFP28 connectors into compatible 100GbE QSFP28 ports on network switches, routers or server NICs. Ensure ports are powered down or follow vendor hot-plug guidance when inserting or removing the cable to prevent port damage. Route the cable to avoid sharp bends and mechanical strain, maintaining gentle bend radius recommended for copper DAC assemblies. Verify link status indicators on both devices and configure network interfaces according to your equipment documentation to enable the 100GbE connection.

Recommendations

Use this passive QSFP28-DAC cable for reliable short-distance 100GbE interconnects where power consumption and cost-efficiency are priorities. Keep the cable within data center rack environments and avoid prolonged exposure to temperatures or conditions outside equipment specifications. For distances beyond short-reach limits or for flexible reconfiguration needs, consider active DAC variants or optical transceiver and fiber solutions.
