Cavo ottico attivo 30 m CBO SFP28 Fortinet SFP28-AOC-30M

The Active Optical Cable 30m CBO SFP28 Fortinet SFP28-AOC-30M is a factory-terminated fiber-optic direct-attach solution engineered for short-reach, high-speed links between compatible SFP28 ports. With a 30 metre length and integrated optical transceivers, the cable delivers a single-cable plug-and-play connection for 25GbE / 28Gbps interfaces without requiring separate SFP28 modules. It is intended for use in data centers, server rooms and network equipment racks where reliable, low-latency optical connectivity is needed across a 30 m span.

Advantages

This Active Optical Cable combines the low-loss characteristics of multimode fibre with integrated optics to enable high throughput and stable signal integrity over 30 metres. The plug-and-play design reduces installation time and avoids the need to purchase and install individual transceiver modules. The lightweight, flexible cable assembly simplifies cable management in densely populated racks and minimizes electromagnetic interference compared with copper solutions.

Suitable for

• Interconnecting switches and routers in data centre rack rows up to 30 m apart
• Connecting servers to top-of-rack or leaf switches where SFP28 ports are available
• Short-reach links between networking equipment in server rooms and network closets

Key specifications

• Connector type: SFP28 to SFP28 integrated optical connectors
• Nominal length: 30 metres
• Data rate support: up to 25 Gbit/s (commonly used for 25GbE) and compatible with 28 Gbit/s signalling
• Optical medium: factory-terminated fibre with integrated active optical transceivers
• Plug-and-play: no separate transceivers required
• Use environment: indoor, structured cabling and rack installations

How to use

Install the Active Optical Cable by inserting each SFP28 connector into the corresponding SFP28 port on the networking devices until the retention latch engages. Confirm link status on each device and verify negotiated speed and link integrity through device management interfaces. Route the cable to avoid sharp bends and excessive tension; follow standard fibre handling practices to prevent damage to the optical fibres and connectors.

Recommendations

Handle the cable by the connector housings during installation, maintain the minimum bend radius recommended by the manufacturer, and keep dust caps in place until final insertion. Use this AOC for short-reach 25GbE/28Gbps links within controlled indoor environments such as data centres and server rooms to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
