Cavo ottico attivo InfiniBand CBO AOC-S-S-25G-20M-BO 25 Gbit/s, 20 m, SFP28

The InfiniBand active optical cable CBO AOC-S-S-25G-20M-BO is a 20-meter AOC with SFP28 connectors engineered for 25 Gbps links. It provides a fiber-based direct attach solution for high-throughput, low-latency interconnects between servers, switches and storage systems. The optical design reduces electromagnetic interference and signal attenuation compared with equivalent copper assemblies, making it suitable for rack-to-rack cabling in modern data center environments where reliable 25G connectivity is required.

Advantages

This InfiniBand active optical cable offers consistent 25 Gbps bandwidth across a 20 m span with low latency and stable signal integrity. The SFP28 form-factor ensures compatibility with ports that accept SFP28 transceivers, while the optical medium provides electrical isolation and immunity to ground loop issues. The cable’s active components compensate for loss over the link, enabling longer runs than passive copper solutions and reducing the need for intermediate connectors.

Suitable for

• Server-to-switch and switch-to-switch high-speed links in data centers
• Rack-to-rack interconnects requiring 25G performance
• Connections between storage arrays and compute nodes
• Low-latency cluster and HPC interconnects

Key specifications

• Data rate: 25 Gbps
• Length: 20 meters
• Connector type: SFP28 on both ends
• Cable type: Active optical cable (AOC)
• Optical link benefits: electrical isolation, reduced EMI, lower signal attenuation versus copper
• Typical applications: data center rack-to-rack, server and storage interconnects

How to use

Insert each SFP28 connector into compatible SFP28 ports on the devices to be linked, ensuring alignment and a secure latch. Verify that both endpoints support 25 Gbps operation and that devices are powered off or follow hot-plug procedures recommended by the equipment manufacturer when installing. After physical connection, check link status and negotiate speed on the devices’ network interfaces; monitor for errors or retransmissions to confirm signal integrity.

Recommendations

Route the cable to minimize sharp bends and avoid tight bundles with high-power electrical cables to preserve optical performance. In mixed-length deployments, label ends with location information for easier maintenance. For best reliability, use with equipment that explicitly supports SFP28 AOC modules and verify firmware compatibility on switches and servers.
