Cavo patch in fibra ottica ROLINE OM4 50/125µm LC/SC 2m

The ROLINE Fibre Optic Jumper Cable ROLINE OM4 50/125µm LC/SC 2m is a 2-meter duplex patch cable built with laser-optimized OM4 multimode fiber (50/125 µm) and terminated with LC and SC connectors. Designed for high-speed network links, the cable supports 1, 10, 40 and 100 Gbit/s applications and is identified by its purple OM4 jacket for easy system matching. It is suitable for data centers, building backbones and campus networks where extended reach and high bandwidth are required.

Advantages

The OM4 50/125 µm fiber provides extended laser bandwidth (4700 MHz·km) enabling longer reaches at 10 Gbit/s compared with lower-grade multimode fibers. The 2 m duplex configuration with LC and SC terminations ensures broad compatibility with equipment using either connector type. The cable supports Ethernet, Fibre Channel and OIF standards and offers improved performance for short-reach data center links and medium to long backbone connections up to the specified distances.

Suitable for

• Data center server and switch interconnects (short-reach, high-speed links)
• Building backbone and long intra-campus links up to specified OM4 distances
• Fibre Channel SAN connections and high-performance computing networks
• Environments requiring LC-to-SC connectivity and duplex multimode patching

How to use

Route the 2 m OM4 duplex cable between the LC and SC ports of your devices or patch panels, ensuring proper polarity for transmit and receive pairs. Verify that connected equipment supports OM4 multimode fiber and the intended data rate. Use gentle bends and secure the cable to avoid strain; follow standard fiber handling procedures such as keeping connectors clean and protected when not in use.

Recommendations

The OM4 cable is optimized for 10 Gbit/s and higher speeds—use it where extended reach at those rates is needed (for example up to ~550 m at 10 Gbit/s). For lower-speed links (100 Mbit/s or 1 Gbit/s), OM4 performs similarly to OM2/OM3 but offers future-proofing for upgrades to 10/40/100 Gbit/s. Avoid sharp bends, maintain connector cleanliness, and match connector types or use adapters when required.
