Canon RF 16 mm F2.8 STM obiettivo ultra-grandangolare MILC nero

The Canon RF 16mm F2.8 STM is an ultra-wide full-frame lens for EOS R-series mirrorless cameras. This compact, lightweight optic offers a 16mm focal length with a bright f/2.8 maximum aperture and STM autofocus, making it suitable for wide landscapes, architecture, environmental portraits, vlogging and astrophotography. The lens has a 9/7 element/group construction, closest focusing distance of 0.13 m and maximum magnification of 0.26x. It uses the Canon RF mount and comes in black with a 43 mm filter thread.

Advantages

Compact and lightweight design provides easy portability and comfortable use for travel and run-and-gun shooting. The STM autofocus and electronic focus ring deliver quiet, precise focusing for video and stills. An aspherical element within the 9/7 construction helps reduce aberrations and improves edge-to-edge sharpness across the ultra-wide 16mm angle of view. The bright f/2.8 aperture aids low-light shooting and creative depth-of-field control.

How to use

Attach the Canon RF 16mm F2.8 STM to a compatible EOS R-series camera via the RF mount until it clicks into place. Use the electronic focus ring for smooth manual focusing or rely on STM autofocus for quiet continuous focusing during video. Apply appropriate exposure settings for an ultra-wide 16mm view: use wider apertures (f/2.8) for low-light or shallow depth of field and smaller apertures (up to f/22) for maximum depth of field in landscapes and architecture. For close subjects, keep the camera at or beyond the 0.13 m minimum focus distance to achieve correct focus.

Recommendations

Use a sturdy camera strap or compact tripod for stable shooting when composing at slow shutter speeds or during night photography; consider using manual focus and live view magnification for precise focusing in astrophotography and critical landscape work.
