Advantages

The RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM combines a broad focal range in a small, lightweight body, making it convenient for travel and everyday use. Its 5-stop optical Image Stabilizer helps reduce camera shake when shooting handheld, and the STM autofocus motor provides smooth and quiet focusing for both stills and video. Centre Focus Macro capability allows creative close-up shots without switching to a dedicated macro lens.

Suitable for

Travel and street photography
Landscapes and wide-angle scenes
Portraits and environmental portraits
Everyday family and candid shots
Close-up detail photography using Centre Focus Macro

Key specifications

Lens type: Standard zoom lens
Focal length: 24-105mm
Aperture range: maximum f/4 (wide) to f/7.1 (tele), minimum f/40
Image stabilization: up to 5 stops (optical)
Autofocus: STM (Stepping Motor)
Lens construction: 11 elements in 13 groups
Closest focusing distance: 0.2 m
Macro: Centre Focus Macro, up to 0.5x
Mount: Canon RF
Weight: 0.395 kg
Colour: Black

How to use

Attach the lens to a compatible Canon EOS R series camera body by aligning the mount marks and turning until it locks. Use the zoom ring to select focal length from 24mm for wide views to 105mm for tighter composition. Rely on the Image Stabilizer when shooting handheld in low light to reduce blur; turn it off when using a tripod if your camera recommends disabling stabilization. To make close-up images, switch to Centre Focus Macro mode and move closer until the subject is within the 0.2 m closest focusing distance.

Recommendations

For best results, combine the lens with full-frame Canon EOS R mirrorless bodies. Use the STM autofocus for smooth video focus transitions and enable the Image Stabilizer for handheld stills. When photographing fine detail in macro mode, use steady support or increase shutter speed to minimise motion blur.
