Cavo patch in fibra ottica ROLINE OM4 50/125µm LC/SC 3m

The ROLINE Fibre Optic Jumper Cable OM4 50/125µm LC/SC 3m is a laser-optimized multimode patch cable designed for high-speed data links. With a 50 µm core and OM4 specification, this 3‑meter duplex cable supports Ethernet, Fibre Channel and OIF systems and is intended for improved performance at 1, 10, 40 and 100 Gbit/s networks. The cable's purple jacket identifies its OM4 classification and ensures correct integration in advanced fiber installations.

Advantages

OM4 multimode construction provides extended laser bandwidth and lower modal dispersion compared with lower-grade multimode fibers, enabling longer reach at 10 Gbit/s and higher data rates. The cable's LC and SC connector termination offers flexible connectivity options for equipment with different port types. At 10 Gbit/s the OM4 fiber can support distances up to 550 meters, and its high modal bandwidth also makes it suitable for short-reach, high-density data center links.

Suitable for

• 10 Gbit/s Ethernet backbone and horizontal links
• 40/100 Gbit/s data center interconnects and short-reach links
• Fibre Channel connections in SAN environments
• Campus backbone runs up to medium distances (hundreds of meters)

Key specifications

• Fiber type: OM4 multimode, 50/125 µm
• Connectors: LC to SC, duplex
• Length: 3 m
• Laser bandwidth: 4700 MHz·km (typical OM4 value)
• Color: purple (OM4 identification)
• Brand / MPN / EAN: ROLINE / 21.15.8763 / 7611990196371

How to use

Install the jumper by connecting the LC and SC connectors to the corresponding ports on network devices or patch panels, ensuring correct polarity for duplex links. Route the cable to avoid tight bends and mechanical stress; maintain the specified minimum bend radius for multimode fiber. Verify link status and signal quality after installation using appropriate optical test equipment or built-in device indicators.

Recommendations

Use OM4 jumper cables where higher bandwidth and extended reach at 10 Gbit/s or greater are required. For 100 Mbit/s or 1 Gbit/s links, OM4 performs similarly to OM2/OM3 but offers future-proofing for upgrades to 10 Gbit/s and above. Keep the connectors clean and store unused cables to prevent contamination or damage.
